The heart of our business
When we started the Retro Donut Company in September of 2019, the founding purpose was to help local food banks. Our nations hunger epidemic is something that tends to be overlooked, and we are setting out to aid those that suffer from it. We support local food banks through daily and monthly donations in hopes to make a change.
72% OF FOOD BANKS IN THE U.S. FEEL THAT THEY CAN NOT ADEQUATELY MEET THE NEEDS OF THEIR COMMUNITIES.
When donuts are made, a hole is typically punched out to create that well-known ring shape. The dough from that hole is either thrown away or cooked and sold as donut holes. Here at the Retro Donut Company, we have taken advantage of this process and have turned it into a way that we can give back! When a donut is made at RDC, the hole that is left behind is then donated to local food banks. In addition, if any donuts are left over at the end of the day, they will be donated to the food banks as well.
Along side our daily donations of donut holes and leftovers, we give back 3% of monthly profits to local food banks. Since we are located in the upstate of South Carolina, we donate to Fishes and Loves and Harvest Hope (our local food banks). Through our charitable outreach program, a bite for you becomes a bite for two.
